Steampunk Kaleidoscope Mk IV

Posted by: admin    in Steampunk Kaleidoscopes

Here is my latest steampunk kaleidoscope in brass and mahogany, the pedestal was a candlestick originally, the body was inspired by Newtonian telescopes, as usual there is plenty of brass in the construction which if it was not old has been aged to appear so.

The majority of it was hand made from scratch in my workshop, the image wheel is made from glass globs which have been wrapped with copper foil so that they can be soldered together.

Steampunk Kaleidoscope MK3

Posted by: admin    in Steampunk Kaleidoscopes

Here is the result of my latest endeavours in the workshop.

The body is made from mahogany and is octagonal in section, the gear train which rotates the image cylinder is made from salvaged clock parts. Inside is a 3 mirror system using front surface mirror for clarity.

As always this is a one of a kind unique kaleidoscope created by me in my workshop. There will never be another one quite like this.
