Steampunk Teleidoscope
Here is my latest creation, a steampunk teleidoscope. Unlike kaleidoscopes there is no image wheel or chamber to view, instead you use it like a telescope, simply pointing it at the world around you. It makes some fascinating and sometimes slightly disturbing images. Depending on what you point it at.
It is fashioned from a very old probably Victorian brass garden tool and various bits of old brass lamp fittings. the internal mirrors are quality front surface mirror for clarity. The “Lens” on the end is a crystal ball.
It measures around 6.5 inches in length and around 1.25 inches in diameter.
It has a wonderful and genuine patina of age and use it looks and feels very satisfyingly old and used.
As always this is a one of a kind item, there will never be another one quite like it.
I’ve now made a custom mahogany box to house this teleidoscope
